Locations Covered: Our Initial Teacher Education provision spans the southeast region from Kent, Surrey and Sussex to London. We collaborate with 500+ schools and colleges annually to train teachers across primary, secondary, and further education sectors across the southeast, transforming aspiring educators into outstanding teachers.         

Learn to teach at Canterbury Christ Church University, the longest established Initial Teacher Education provider in the southeast. We have been training teachers for over sixty years and offer school and university-led routes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across primary, secondary, and Further Education sectors. Our extensive experience has expanded internationally through acclaimed iPGCE and iQTS programmes, with our iQTS course achieving a sector-leading Grade 1 judgement (Penta International, May 2024). 
Demonstrating an ‘unwavering commitment to improving educational outcomes for pupils in the southeast of England’ (Ofsted, May 2023), we harness the expertise of research-active and informed school, college and university-based professionals to deliver exceptional outcomes for all learners while supporting the next generation of outstanding teachers into lifelong educational careers. Our courses enable student teachers to master practical skills while developing strong research capabilities. We develop critically reflective professionals with the confidence to work autonomously and engage in continuous professional development, fundamentals of high-quality teaching. Results demonstrate our success: 98% of PGCE students report feeling better prepared for their careers, 13% above the national average (Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey, PGCE Primary, 2024). Our graduates are ‘profession ready’, equipped to become educational leaders who make lasting impacts on learners' lives.
